The issue of urgently providing 5 billion euros worth of ammunition to Ukraine will be discussed in detail at an informal meeting of EU defense ministers in Warsaw on April 2-3.

This was reported to European Truth by a senior diplomat from one of the Western European countries.

"As for military support, we expect the discussion on Ukraine's needs of 5 billion dollars to be discussed at the informal defense council next week. "We hope that we can reach some agreement in the coming days," the diplomat said.

He specified that the informal meetings of the EU Council do not have the authority to make decisions, "but, of course, can give further instructions" for the implementation of the agreements reached.

The defense ministers will also "discuss the modalities" of the Kallas plan to provide Ukraine with military aid worth up to 40 billion euros, he added.

The discussion on the Kallas initiative will continue at the EU Foreign Affairs Council on April 14, the source of the media outlet notes.

"It is still difficult to say when this initiative can be finalized and approved and whether it will be approved at all“, the diplomat emphasized.

European Truth recalls that earlier the media reported on a proposal to create a fund to provide Ukraine with military aid in the amount of 20 to 40 billion euros on a voluntary basis in order to avoid any veto from Hungary.

The proposal states that as a first step, the leaders of the participating countries must agree to allocate 5 billion euros for 2 million large-caliber artillery ammunition in 2025.
