Kiev: Ukrainian Navy will do whatever is necessary if Putin violates Black Sea ceasefire - 1

If the Russian Federation violates the Black Sea ceasefire, Ukraine will respond, Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk said during a national television broadcast, RBC-Ukraine reports.

He specifically recalled the words of Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, who stated that Russia should not leave the eastern part of the Black Sea. Otherwise, Kiev will consider it a violation of the ceasefire.

"This has been repeatedly discussed at the highest levels of government and, of course, the response will be appropriate. Defense Minister Rustem Umerov also reiterated that Russian forces should not leave the eastern part of the Black Sea, where they have a formal legal right to be - on their own coast - and where they have actually remained for a long time," he said.

Pletenchuk reiterated that for Ukraine, the ceasefire in the Black Sea means, first of all, an end to attacks on port infrastructure. At the same time, the right to strike Russian warships remains.

"Yes, it is a question of security. It concerns which targets cannot be hit during a ceasefire. This, of course, concerns the stable functioning of our grain corridor and maintaining export opportunities. As for military targets - as stated by representatives of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry - the ceasefire does not extend to military assets, such as warships," the spokesman added.

Ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia

The media recall that US Vice President J.D. Vance stated yesterday that an energy ceasefire is in effect between Ukraine and Russia. He also commented that the ceasefire in the Black Sea is almost finalized.
