German Foreign Minister Analene Berbock arrived today in the Ukrainian capital Kiev on an unannounced visit, DPA reported, BTA reports.
The confidentiality measure was imposed for security reasons.
Germany confirms its support
During her visit, Berbock stressed that Ukraine was ready to immediately conclude a ceasefire agreement, Reuters reported.
"We must give clear guarantees that the next German government will continue its large-scale support for Ukraine," she said, underlining Berlin's commitment to Kiev.
Strategic importance of European support
Berbock stressed that the stalemate in negotiations between the United States and Russia makes the European position even more crucial.
"Now, more than ever, it is of strategic importance that we, the Europeans, show that we stand behind Ukraine without “if“ and “but“", she said during her meetings in Kiev.
Baerbock's visits underscore Germany's unwavering support for Ukraine and Berlin's efforts to ensure stability and security in the region.
