US President Donald Trump is preparing an executive order to simplify regulations governing US arms exports to other countries, Reuters reported.

The US administration may announce the move in the coming days, sources told the agency. The executive order would relax rules on approval of US arms sales by the US Congress.

Under current law, the Washington administration must seek approval from Congress for any arms transfers to another country worth $14 million or more or for any military products or services worth $50 million or more. According to the executive order, in the first case, the amount would increase to $23 million, and in the second – up to $83 million.

During his first term as US president, the Trump administration developed a number of initiatives aimed at increasing US arms exports to other countries.
