Mexico's “cool-blooded approach“ to the aggressive trade policy of President Donald Trump has paid off with a more favorable attitude to the high US tariffs announced this week, as well as the development of a close working relationship with the White House trade team. This was stated by the Mexican deputy minister of economy, quoted by Reuters, reports BTA.
Luis Rosendo Gutierrez, deputy minister of international trade, said in an interview with the agency that representatives of the Mexican authorities will meet next week with two high-ranking representatives of the Trump administration — Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.
The talks will discuss the U.S. tariffs on autos, steel, and aluminum, as well as the current state of the respective industries.
