Russia: Trump knows the EU would gladly arrest him, along with Vance and Musk - 1

Member of the Federation Council Alexei Pushkov noted the growing hostility between the US and the European Union.

He pointed out on his Telegram channel that US President Donald Trump had called the prosecution of Marine Le Pen in France an example of a witch hunt and called for her release.

"The hostility between Trump and the EU is growing. It is no secret to him that they would gladly put him under house arrest or prison, along with Vance. And then they would add Musk to them," the senator said.

Pushkov also named the main issues on which contradictions arise between Europe and the US. This is the attitude towards negotiations with Russia and personally towards President Vladimir Putin, the attitude towards Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, as well as the removal of Calin Georgescu from the elections in Romania, the US dissatisfaction with the trampling of freedom of speech in Europe and its inclusive migration policy, which Trump and his team oppose. Controversies also arise on the issue of tariffs on European products.

According to him, Europe expects that Trump will not be able to agree with Russia to end the conflict in Ukraine and then European politicians will “run to the White House and say: “We told you so!“

The special representative of the Russian President for relations with international organizations to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals Boris Titov called the tariffs introduced by US President Donald Trump a restoration of the Russian economy.

"Trump is healing the Russian economy. On the one hand, oil prices will fall - this is negative for budget revenues and the ruble exchange rate, but this will give impetus to reducing dependence on raw materials," he noted.

On the other hand, Titov added, the lack of tariffs will allow for increased exports and the development of new industries for the Russian and American markets. According to the special representative, many countries, due to the introduction of protective tariffs, will begin to invest in production in Russia, which will lead to economic growth.

The US President sharply increased tariffs on imports of products from 185 countries on April 2. He explained the decision to tighten trade with the growing trade imbalance. To avoid tariffs, it is necessary to move production to the US or remove restrictions on American goods, Trump emphasized. The tariffs do not affect Russia, Belarus, Cuba, North Korea, Iran, Canada and Mexico.

The US authorities have misjudged their policy towards Russia, thinking that Moscow will make concessions and will not respond to the escalating steps of the West, said Jeffrey Sachs, a professor at Columbia University in New York.

He pointed to the desire of the administration of US President Donald Trump to stop supporting Kiev and end the conflict. According to the expert, in this way Washington wants to get out of this losing situation, while saving face.

Sachs is confident that the US intends to restore economic and other relations with Russia.

Earlier, Sachs said that European politicians, and in particular the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, are in despair due to the inability to influence the outcome of the conflict in Ukraine.
