“We have yet to understand what the real effect of the tariffs imposed by America on Europe will be. For Bulgaria, this should not have much relevance, since the trade between Bulgaria and the US is extremely small”, said MEP from “Vazrazhdane” Stanislav Stoyanov in a television program regarding the tariffs imposed by the US on imported goods from Europe.

He added that the industry of some of the larger European countries and the German automotive industry will certainly be affected. According to the MEP from “Vazrazhdane”, with his actions, the US president is following his election promises, and Europe is becoming increasingly isolated. Relations with Russia are frozen, China is also being blacklisted, and relations with the US are strained.

Regarding the EC's plan for defense investments worth 800 billion euros, Stanislav Stoyanov said that there are many things in it that are worrying.

“First of all, this plan is another step towards escalation in the military aspect, and diplomacy is completely frozen. When it is not diplomacy that speaks, but weapons and rearmament, this is escalation. Europe is not making any efforts to stop the military conflict. The efforts are on the part of the US and Russia. In connection with the rearmament plan, another huge minus is that it envisages new loans, transfer of funds from the cohesion funds, which is extremely worrying for countries like Bulgaria that are catching up,” Stoyanov emphasized.

According to him, the rearmament plan will be difficult to implement because there is a deficit of both funds and technology. In addition, the development of this industry is extremely energy-intensive and it is not clear where this energy will come from, after we gave up on Russian resources, which the ruling elite rejects and defines as “undemocratic.”

“It is necessary to make a serious analysis and not to rush. Rearmament cannot happen spontaneously and without in-depth analyses and discussions,” said Stanislav Stoyanov, an MEP elected from the "Vazrazhdane" quota, a member of "Europe of Sovereign Nations" and chairman of the European party "Europe of Sovereign Nations".
