Musk vs. Trump: Entrepreneur calls for US-EU free trade zone - 1

American billionaire and head of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Elon Musk has called for the creation of a US free trade zone with the European Union in contradiction to the policies of US President Donald Trump.

He made this statement during a video conference speech at the League congress in Italy.

“I hope there will be an agreement that both Europe and the US should ideally move to a zero-tariff situation, effectively creating a free trade zone“, he said.

The businessman noted that freedom of movement and employment in the EU should also be extended to the US. He said he gave the same advice to Trump.

If US President Donald Trump's tariffs and threats undermine the military partnership with Canada, the Pentagon could lose some of its ability to track enemy threats.

This was warned by US Air Force General Gregory Gillott during a hearing before the US House of Representatives Armed Services Committee.

Without Canada's radar stations, he said, the northern axis would be under-resourced, leading to a sharp deterioration in situational awareness and response in the northern axis, which "is the fastest and easiest route for adversaries to North America."

The general added that the US would have to spend a lot of money on radars, aircraft and ships to restore the ability to identify threats. He noted that despite the differences, the relationship between the military personnel of the two countries is “stronger than ever“.

Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the country's readiness to replace the United States as a global leader. According to Carney, the 80-year period in which the United States carried the banner of global economic leadership is over.
