National mourning in Ukraine: Victims of Russian attack in Kryvyi Rih reach 19, 9 of them are children - 1

A day of national mourning has been declared in Ukraine today in memory of the victims of Friday's Russian attacks in the city of Kryvyi Rih, Ukrinform reported, quoted by BTA.

According to the latest data, the number of dead after Russian strikes in the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is 19, 9 of whom are children.

This was reported in the "Telegram" application by the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for Reconstruction Oleksiy Kuleba, who is also the Minister of Communities and Territorial Development, explained the Ukrainian news agency, adding that national flags will be lowered to half-mast everywhere.

In his words, "all regional centers of Ukraine, small and large settlements stand shoulder to shoulder with Kryvyi Rih". In solidarity with the victims and their families, Sunday, April 6, will be a day of national mourning, he pointed out.

"From Kiev to Odessa, from Kramatorsk to Uzhgorod, flags in cities will be lowered to half-mast and there will be a minute of silence in memory of the victims," he added.

Kuleba noted that 74 people were injured. "Russia is at war with Ukrainian cities - with apartment buildings, hospitals and playgrounds. It destroys lives, takes lives, kills children," Kuleba said.

Meanwhile, Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his disappointment with the reaction of the US embassy in Kiev to the Russian missile strike in his hometown of Krivoy Rog yesterday, Ukrinform and Reuters reported, quoted by BTA

Zelensky, who has been cautious about his criticism of Washington after a tense meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House in February, wrote on the social platform "Ex" that several embassies had condemned yesterday's attack, stating that it was carried out by Russia, Reuters pointed out.

The Ukrainian head of state noted that the US embassy's statement did not make any connection with Russia in condemning the attack.

"Unfortunately, the reaction from the US embassy is surprising disappointing - such a strong country, such a strong people, and at the same time such a weak reaction. They are afraid to even mention the word "Russian", talking about a missile that killed children," Zelensky wrote, quoted by Ukrinform.

Then, in his traditional evening video address to the nation, Zelensky singled out those who "tell the truth (about the attack) clearly and directly," Reuters noted.

""Keeping quiet about the fact that Russia is killing children with ballistic missiles is wrong and dangerous," the Ukrainian president said. "This encourages criminals in Moscow to continue the war and ignore diplomacy. Weakness has never ended a war," he added.

Reuters reported that US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink wrote last night in "Ex" the following: "I am horrified that a ballistic missile has struck near a playground and restaurant in Krivoy Rog. The war must stop".
