The US government announced that it is revoking all US visas issued to citizens of South Sudan, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
The reason is the unfulfilled commitment of the transitional South Sudanese government to accept back the country's citizens repatriated by Washington, the world news agency specifies.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the government is ready to review this decision the moment South Sudan provides Washington with its full cooperation on the matter.
South Sudan has failed to comply with the principle that every country must promptly accept its citizens returned from other countries, including the United States, Rubio noted.
"The US State Department's decision to terminate the visas of anyone with South Sudanese citizenship, in order to prevent entry into US territory of people with such citizenship", the Secretary of State's statement said.
