Tens of thousands of people came out on April 5 in Washington for a protest under the slogan “Hands down!“ against the policy of the administration of US President Donald Trump. The Washington Post reported that organizers initially expected 10,000 to 20,000 people to attend the rally in the US capital, but the total number turned out to be "five times that." Police were on duty at the protest site, and several streets in the city center were blocked.
The protesters raised slogans criticizing Trump, Elon Musk, who heads the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Treasury Secretary Scott Besant, Pentagon chief Pete Hegsett, and other members of the current administration.
