The US investment bank "Goldman Sachs" said that current bond pricing leads to the conclusion that markets see a 70 percent probability of a peace deal in the war in Ukraine, Reuters reported. This is a sharp increase compared to the forecast made before the US presidential election in November, BTA reported.

"Our modeling suggests that the market's assessment of a peace deal has increased from below 50 percent before the US election to about 70 percent now", "Goldman Sachs" said in a research note to its clients.

The institution clarified that the current forecast is slightly lower than the peak reported in February – 76 percent.

Donald Trump, who has said he wants to be remembered as a peacemaker, has repeatedly said he wants to end the three-year conflict in Ukraine, which his administration has portrayed as a proxy war between the United States and Russia, Reuters reports.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said last month that Moscow supported in principle a U.S. proposal for a ceasefire in Ukraine, but added that the war could not be ended until a number of important conditions were met or clarified.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Putin's terms for a ceasefire were unrealistic and accused the Russian leader of wanting to continue hostilities.

Russia currently controls just under a fifth of Ukraine, including Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014, as well as most, but not all, of four other regions that Moscow claims are part of Russia - a claim that is not recognized by most countries, Reuters recalls.
