Ukraine lost the battle for Kursk: Russia regained one of the last occupied villages - 1

Russia said today that it had regained Guevo from the Ukrainian army, one of the last villages occupied by Kiev forces in the Kursk region, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.

Ukrainian forces were almost completely pushed out of the area.

"Units of Army Group North liberated the Guevo area in the Kursk region during offensive operations," the daily statement of the Russian Defense Ministry said.

If the information is confirmed, it would mean that Ukrainian forces control only two border villages in the Kursk region, AFP notes.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said explicitly yesterday for the first time that there are Ukrainian troops in Russia's Belgorod region, which he said are there to protect Ukrainian cities in the border area, he reported. Reuters.

Zelensky said in his evening video address that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Oleksandr Syrsky had presented a report on the situation at the front, including on the Ukrainian military presence in two Russian border regions - "Kursk and Belgorod regions".

"We continue active operations in the enemy border areas, and this is fully justified. The war must return to where it came from. Our main goal remains the same - to protect our land and our communities in Sumy and Kharkiv regions from the Russian occupiers," the Ukrainian president said.
