US tariffs on imported goods are costing the US $2 billion a day, US President Donald Trump said at the White House.
“We are doing very well. We are negotiating with more than 70 countries that want to export their goods to the US. Our problem is that we cannot take on so many countries quickly, but we don't have to because, as you know, the tariffs are working and money is pouring into the country at a level that we have never seen before, and that will be great for us“, he added.
“Now the Japanese are flying in here to make a deal. South Korea is coming here to make a deal, other countries are too," Trump said.
The United States is already imposing tariffs on Chinese products at a rate of 104%, he noted.
“It's very simple: we make deals and countries pay the tariffs. Right now, China is paying 104%. Think about it, 104% - it sounds funny, but they charge us tariffs on a lot of goods: 100%, 125%. A lot of countries have kicked us out, but now it's our turn to clean them up,“ the American leader emphasized.
The US administration is planning to impose tariffs on imported pharmaceutical products, US President Donald Trump said in Washington,
“We're going to impose tariffs on drugs. Our advantage over everyone else is that we're a big market. "That's why we will be announcing large tariffs on pharmaceuticals in the near future," the American leader noted.
Washington intends to cut budget spending by more than $1 trillion, Trump wrote on the Truth Social network after meeting with House Speaker Mike Johnson and other lawmakers.
„I had a very good meeting with the Speaker of the House and some of our more conservative members, all great people. I made it clear to them that I am for big spending cuts! We will pass spending cuts, hopefully over $1 trillion, all in one big, beautiful bill. "I, along with members of the House and Senate, will be very aggressive in pushing for these massive spending cuts, but we must pass the bill now," the head of state wrote.
After the meeting, Johnson said that lawmakers discussed with the president the budget proposal for the current fiscal year, which began in the country on October 1, 2024.
Earlier, Trump announced measures to reduce the bloated state apparatus and fight bureaucracy, which should significantly reduce US government spending.
