Turkey aims to attract over seven million tourists from Russia by 2025, the country's tourism industry said, citing the positive trajectory of political and economic relations between the two countries, Hurriyet Daily News reported, BTA reported.
“Things are going very well in the Russian market. Some people are trying to link this to marketing strategies, but they have nothing to do with it. "Since the ruble appreciated, Russians have started making reservations," said Kaan Kavaloglu, president of the Mediterranean Tour Operators, Hoteliers and Investors Association (AKTOB).
Meanwhile, the Turkish Travel Agencies Association (TURSAB) predicts that the country will welcome between 7 and 7.5 million Russian tourists in 2025, expecting a growth of over 10 percent compared to the previous year.
Last year, Turkey was visited by over 6.7 million Russian tourists, marking a growth of five percent compared to 2023. Russian tourists accounted for 12.8 percent of foreign tourists visiting Turkey in 2024, the publication also said.
In the first two months of 2025 Turkey has been visited by over 370,000 Russian tourists, with the country's tourism industry stressing that a large influx of Russians is expected around the Easter holidays.
