The United States will be prepared to use military force against Iran if necessary, said US President Donald Trump during a conversation with journalists at the White House.
"If military action is necessary, we will take it. Obviously, Israel will be the main one involved in this matter," said Trump. "Nobody controls us. We do whatever we want," summed up the US president.
He noted that the upcoming consultations with Iran in Oman will be just the beginning of a long process.
"We have little time. "I don't want much - we won't let them get nuclear weapons," the US president said.
On April 12, a meeting of US and Iranian representatives will be held in Oman, where they plan to discuss the parameters for resolving the situation surrounding the Iranian nuclear program. According to the White House, the negotiations will be conducted directly, according to Tehran - through intermediaries. The US delegation will be led by the President's special envoy Stephen Witkoff, and the Iranian delegation by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Tehran insists on finalizing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, proposing that the document include the possibility of imposing sanctions against a country that may decide to withdraw from the agreement in the future.
The US insists not only on preventing the development of the military component of Iran's nuclear program, but also on the complete dismantling of all Iranian nuclear facilities.
In addition, Washington insists that Tehran stop supporting its allies in the Middle East and limit Iran's ballistic missile program. Iran categorically rejects any attempts to limit its foreign policy and defense capabilities, emphasizing its right to develop "peaceful nuclear energy".
