The second round of consultations between Russia and the US in Istanbul allowed progress in solving the tasks related to the normalization of the work of the diplomatic missions of the two countries, Russian Ambassador to Washington Alexander Darchiev told journalists, quoted by TASS, BTA reports.
According to Darchiev, who heads the Russian delegation for resolving the problems of the work of the embassies, today's consultations took place in a "positive atmosphere". The talks "allowed progress to be achieved in solving the task set by the presidents of the two countries," the Russian diplomat noted.
Russia stated that the return of the diplomatic property confiscated in the US is of paramount importance to it. In this regard, the two sides expressed their readiness to start work on a "road map" to resolve this issue, Darchiev added. "It was also emphasized that the expansion of business ties, contacts between societies and people will be facilitated by the resumption of direct flights between Moscow and Washington," the Russian ambassador added.
Earlier today, the American side described the consultations as "constructive".
