Russia does not pose a threat to Britain, but if London wants to invent new imaginary threats, that is its business. This was stated by the Russian Ambassador to the UK Andrei Kelin in an interview with the BBC.
The Sunday Times reported on April 6 that the British authorities fear that if the confrontation between Russia and NATO escalates, Moscow could damage the energy cables connecting Britain to continental Europe, as well as the pipelines through which the country receives gas from Norway. In addition, the publication claims that London suspects Moscow of trying to track the movements of British strategic submarines. According to the publication, devices allegedly used for this purpose have been found several times off the coast of Great Britain.
“I will not deny it, but I wonder if we really have an interest in monitoring all these old British submarines with very outdated nuclear warheads. All these threats are greatly exaggerated, they are created out of thin air“, said Kelin in his interview in English.
“I reject the existence of a threat to Great Britain, it is completely fabricated. There is no threat to Great Britain from Russia. But if Great Britain wants to worsen relations, to invent new threats presented as coming from Russia, which is not the case, then that is its business”, the diplomat noted.
