Chinese authorities have arrested a senior anti-corruption official on suspicion of taking bribes, Xinhua reported.
Li Gang headed a disciplinary inspection and supervision team at the Organization Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. This department also functions as a human resources unit and allocates duties to party members.
Last year, China conducted investigations on suspicion of corruption against a deputy governor of the Central Bank, a senior military officer and a former chairman of the country's largest oil and gas company, Reuters added. President Xi Jinping has called corruption the biggest threat to the Chinese Communist Party.
