The White House said that the European Union's fines against US companies „Apple“ and „Meta“ are a „new form of economic blackmail“ that the United States will not tolerate, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
„Apple“ was fined 500 million euros yesterday, and “Meta“ 200 million euros, after EU antitrust regulators for the first time applied punitive measures in accordance with emblematic legislative provisions aimed at limiting the influence of technology giants.
The fines are seen as an occasion about tensions between the EU and Trump, who has threatened to raise tariffs on goods from countries that sanction American companies, Reuters reports.
US President Donald Trump signed an executive order ordering his administration to enforce existing laws requiring universities to declare the receipt of large gifts from abroad, Reuters reported.
Trump also signed another executive order introducing changes to the accreditation process for universities, including historically black colleges and law schools, in order to tie accreditation to achievements and results, rather than to “liberal ideology”, White House aide Will Scharf said in the Oval Office.
