Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on yesterday's negotiations in London with representatives of the US, Ukraine and Europe at a joint press conference with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, reports the BBC.
According to the Ukrainian president, the document with proposals resulting from the negotiations in London is already on the desk of US President Donald Trump. "After the proposal from the United States, other documents appeared and I think that today this format, this document is on President Trump's desk," he said.
Zelensky was again asked about the "red lines" in the negotiations with Russia. The Ukrainian president said that he saw no point in talking about red lines without a complete ceasefire. However, he added: "Anything that contradicts our values or our constitution cannot be included in any agreement."
Thus he reiterated his position that Kiev does not recognize the annexation of Crimea by Russia.
According to one of the points of the American plan, which was cited by the media, the United States is ready to recognize Russia's control over the annexed Crimea, as well as over the occupied regions of Ukraine.
Following the Ukrainian president's statements on Crimea the day before, the White House press secretary said that Donald Trump's patience was "exhausted", as they believe that Zelensky is moving in the "wrong direction" when it comes to peace talks.
"This is not how it works. If Russia says it is ready to cease fire, it should stop the massive strikes on Ukraine. But patience? "The patience of Ukrainians is running out because we are the ones being attacked, and no one else," Zelensky said at a press conference in South Africa.
