Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine has received weapons and other assistance from the United States worth $105 billion.
"I have my own internal audit, and my country documents very clearly how much aid was provided. It was $104-105 billion. Most of this money was in the form of weapons," he told journalist Ben Shapiro.
„It's not that we're arguing that the US said it was giving us $200 billion, and we say, no, it's $100. No, that's not an argument. I'm answering what the contribution was, how much money came to Ukraine. As for the use of this money, it was mainly for weapons, it was used on the battlefield. And during the audit that I mentioned, their use was clearly documented“, he continued.
Zelensky added that Ukraine is sharing with the United States everything it has learned about conducting military operations and developing weapons. He hopes to have "more fruitful meetings" with US President Donald Trump, although their last meeting at the White House ended in a dispute.
Trump and Zelensky have long had disagreements over the amount of money spent by Washington to help Kiev. In February, the American leader noted that it was time to find out where all the money that Washington had allocated to Kiev had gone. Zelensky then said that he did not know where the $200 billion allocated for military aid had gone. He denies any debt to the United States, insisting that the aid was provided free of charge.
However, the latest version of the draft mineral agreement that the United States and Ukraine are working on requires Kiev to pay back more than $120 billion in aid. At the same time, Trump noted that if Zelensky tries to “back out of the deal“, he “will have big problems”.
