The American M113 armored personnel carrier has claimed the life of a 4-year-old boy in the Russian city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Khabarovsk Krai, Meduza reported.
The incident occurred after the local authorities decided to exhibit in the city “equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and NATO, captured by Russian army soldiers during a special military operation“.
The child was with his father when he approached the M113 armored personnel carrier and was crushed by the ramp of the heavy military vehicle.
Emergency services arrived at the scene, but medics were unable to save the boy. He suffered a severe head injury.
It is unclear why the door of the armored personnel carrier opened. Authorities have cordoned off the military equipment with tape and are not allowing any more visitors.
An eyewitness to the events told journalists that initially the equipment was freely accessible and children were not afraid to climb on it, Ura.ru reported. Authorities are investigating the incident and clarifying all the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
