US President Donald Trump did not continue his meeting with Zelensky after the funeral of Pope Francis in Rome, as his schedule required him to leave the Italian capital immediately after the mourning ceremony.
The two managed to hold a brief meeting in St. Peter's Cathedral, which lasted about 15 minutes.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer noted the progress in the negotiations for a peaceful settlement of Ukraine, the Prime Minister's Office of England announced after his meeting with Zelensky in Rome.
French President Emmanuel Macron met with Volodymyr Zelensky in Rome after the funeral of Pope Francis.
„I had a very good conversation with Zelensky in Rome“, Macron wrote in X.
Macron noted that he shares US President Donald Trump's goal of ending the conflict in Ukraine.
“Ukraine is ready for an unconditional ceasefire and Zelensky wants to work with the Americans and the Europeans to implement it”, the French leader said.
He noted that he planned to continue working within the framework of the "coalition of the willing", established in Paris in March, to achieve “both a ceasefire and sustainable peace agreements in Ukraine“.
The two highlighted the positive progress made in recent days towards achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine and agreed to maintain the momentum by continuing to work actively with international partners to move to the next stages of planning. The leaders agreed to talk again at the earliest opportunity.
