Photos on social media, whose authenticity has not been verified at this stage by the competent authorities, show police cars, ambulances, fire engines and people lying on the ground at the scene of the incident. A video clip circulating online shows a black SUV, believed to be the cause of the incident, with its hood crushed.
Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim said he was deeply shocked and saddened by what happened at the festival, Reuters reported. It was not immediately clear whether it was a traffic accident or an attack.
