Albania and Montenegro become associate members of the “Three Seas“ initiative, BTA reported, quoted by News.bg.
During the 10th summit of the initiative, Polish President Andrzej Duda announced that Albania will officially be accepted as an associate member. He added that Montenegro will also join the format with the same status.
According to him, Turkey and Spain will receive the status of strategic partners. According to Duda, the expansion of the format with new participants makes the initiative even more meaningful and effective.
On the social network X, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović confirmed that his country will be accepted as an associate member, and after joining the European Union it will receive full membership.
The “Three Seas“ initiative was created in 2015 by Croatia and Poland with the aim of strengthening regional cooperation between the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Its members are Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Austria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Hungary. Moldova and Ukraine are already associate members, and the strategic partners of the initiative include the United States, Germany, Japan and the European Commission.
