Nearly half of Americans believe that Donald Trump deserves a negative assessment for the first 100 days of his second term. This is according to data from a survey conducted by PBS, NPR and Marist Poll.
According to sociologists, 45% of respondents give Trump an unsatisfactory assessment, which is almost twice as many as the 23% of those who rated his work in office as “excellent“. Among those who gave a negative assessment, 80% are Democrats. Another 17% and 8% of respondents rate Trump's work as “good”, respectively and "satisfactory".
According to the survey, Trump's approval rating as president has fallen by several percentage points, to 42%. At the same time, 30% of respondents say they strongly approve of Trump's job performance, while 45% strongly disapprove.
A slim majority of respondents believe that Trump is taking the country in the wrong direction and moving too fast, and almost half of respondents say that Trump's policies have had a mostly negative impact on them.
The poll, conducted April 21-23 with 1,439 American adults, has a margin of error of 3.3 percentage points.
"I'm not looking to concentrate all the power in my hands and become an authoritarian leader," Trump said in an interview with ABC television.
"I really wouldn't want people to think that. I'm only doing one thing - to make America great again. Our country was in decline. The whole world was laughing at our country. We had an extremely incompetent leader, the American president said.
This is how the president commented on a survey by ABC, The Washington Post and Ipsos, according to which 56% of US citizens believe that Trump has exceeded his powers. 49% of respondents believe that Trump has weakened, not strengthened, the country's global leadership.
