Over 6,000 people can be screened under the Sofia Municipality's program for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The proposal is from the Deputy Chairperson of the Sofia Municipal Council, Vanya Tagareva.
The 2025 budget of Sofia will provide funds for this, and the screenings will be carried out in municipal hospitals and polyclinics.
One of them is the First City Hospital. Its director, Prof. Tsvetomir Dimitrov, explained why the program is needed.
"This screening program will help us identify initial changes, respond immediately and save dozens of lives. If there is a need for hospital treatment, we will respond immediately. There will be the necessary number of specialists, the necessary equipment. Other screening programs are also forthcoming, one of which is screenings of preschool children with pediatric eye specialists," said Prof. Dimitrov.
