Mitsubishi plans to revive the Pajero Mini compact SUV, which first appeared in 1994 and was discontinued in 2012. This is reported by the resource BestCarWeb.

The company's expectations are that the updated Pajero Mini will be able to compete with the popular Suzuki Jimny, and the company also has hopes for the new model due to the market success of the Delica Mini.

Mitsubishi has long discussed a revival of the Pajero Mini, but the project was stalled due to the engineers' insistence on using a frame structure similar to the Suzuki Jimny. However, according to insiders, these requirements have started to soften.

The new Pajero Mini is likely to be based on the Delica Mini k-car platform, which technically repeats the 2020 Mitsubishi eK X Space. The model is expected to receive a 3.4-meter body, a 660-cc turbo engine 3DOHC.

The engine will have a power of 52 or 64 horsepower and an electric motor with a power of 2.7 horsepower to support the hybrid system. A variator will work in tandem with this powertrain, and the car will have all-wheel drive.

The design of the new Pajero Mini will combine futurism and off-road aggressiveness. According to preliminary, but still unofficial information, the debut of the model may take place as early as next year.
