And at the end of this year, the traditional annual car reliability rating was published, made by Consumer Reports - a company specializing in consumer research. This year's results have already been announced on the CR website.
Consumer Reports experts surveyed 300,000 owners of cars from 22 brands manufactured in the period from 2000 to 2024, and thus analyzed the main car malfunctions over the past 12 months.
The problems are divided into 20 different categories, and the opinion of consumers about the problems with the cars and the results of the tests are the main parameters used to determine the reliability index. It is evaluated on a 100-point scale.
As part of the study, interesting trends were revealed. On average, electric cars have 42% more problems than gasoline cars, and Plug-in hybrids have 70% more problems. At the same time, conventional hybrids are quite reliable.
The least problematic are passenger sedans and hatchbacks: their average score is 60. This indicator is 57 for minivans, 49 for crossovers and 36 for pickups. As for brands, Japanese manufacturers dominate the front. Here is the ranking.
