In the past month, more than half of all cars sold in Germany were hybrids and electric vehicles, but interest in Tesla cars has fallen sharply. This is reported by Spiegel.
In Germany, the trend towards an increase in the share of electrified cars continues, while the increasing lack of cars with only internal combustion engines leads to a decrease in their sales.
In February 2025, according to data from the Federal Agency for Road Transport, almost 40,000 new electrified cars were registered in the country, which is 30.8% more than in February last year.
This significant growth is also due to the very low sales in February 2024, and to the fact that almost all new cars are now electrified in some form, be it as the most common "mild hybrids".
However, what is more interesting is something else. Although sales are increasing, the number of registrations of new Tesla cars has decreased by... a whopping 76%! And all this is because of the actions of Elon Musk.
In Germany, electric cars account for 17.7% of car sales, while hybrids are the dominant category with a share of 38.2%. The share of new diesel cars has decreased to 15.8%, and gasoline cars to 28%.
However, among all cars on German roads, the latter two categories still remain dominant: gasoline cars account for 60.6%, and diesel cars - 28%.
