The new Volkswagen Tera was unveiled at the Rio de Janeiro carnival. The model will go on sale this year and will become the German brand's cheapest crossover. Details about it were revealed on Volkswagen's official website.
The Volkswagen Tera crossover is a compact B-SUV model that uses the MQB-A0 platform from the VW Polo hatchback. It reaches approximately 4 meters in length with a wheelbase of 2,566 mm. The exact price of the model is not disclosed, but it is known that it will be under 15,000 euros.
The design of the Volkswagen Tera turned out to be expressive and athletic - with short body overhangs, a curved window line and athletic, protruding fenders. From the front, the crossover resembles a VW Tiguan thanks to its elongated LED headlights and a wide air intake. The rear window is covered with a spoiler.
The similarity with the VW Polo is visible in the Tera's interior. The hatchback has borrowed the steering wheel, digital instrument panel and a number of other switches. The most refined version gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen, as well as LED interior lighting, 17-inch wheels, wireless smartphone charging and a set of safety systems.
The Volkswagen Tera crossover is equipped with a one-liter gasoline turbo engine with a power of 116 hp. It is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, but a manual transmission option may appear later.
