Renault has announced the start of sales of the diesel Megane on the European market, in particular, the model will initially be launched in Poland and the Czech Republic. The Grand Coupe model will be able to travel up to 1,000 km on one tank.
The new diesel version will complement the existing gasoline options and will have a price of 27,288 to 28,186 euros depending on the configuration. The appearance of the Megane Grand Coupe does not differ from other models in this series.
The interior is also similar, except for the expanded list of assistance systems, which now includes a blind spot monitoring system and parking sensors. But the engine under the hood is new and highly efficient.
As indicated on the company's official website, the Megane Grand Coupe is equipped with a 1.5-liter dCi diesel engine with a capacity of 115 hp, which works in tandem with a 7-speed EDC automatic transmission.
In addition to meeting all the most stringent standards, this unit also impresses with low fuel consumption, which is 4.7 liters per 100 kilometers. Thus, without the need to refuel, the car can travel up to 1,000 km.
By launching this version of Megane on the European market, Renault intends to intensify its competition with Chinese manufacturers, who are actively expanding their lines in Europe, adding new economical models.
But the Chinese are mainly electric vehicles, and among them there are no diesel variants with such characteristics. That's exactly what Renault is betting on, knowing full well that Europeans like diesel cars.
