Kazakhstan authorities continue negotiations with the Russian side on the possible gasification of the northern and eastern regions regions of the republic, announced the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliev.
Work is underway on two options for gasification of the northern and eastern regions of Kazakhstan. "The second option is gasification from Russia. Today, trade negotiations between Kazakhgaz and Gazprom are underway. The conditions for gas supply to the northern and eastern regions are being discussed”, Satkaliev said.
According to him, another option is the gasification of the Akmola and North Kazakhstan regions by continuing the construction of the second and third stages of the Saryarka gas pipeline. “The implementation of this project will be possible after the construction of the second line of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline. Today, a pre-project study is being developed, there is an agreement with the Qatari investor for the joint implementation of the project”, explained the head of the Ministry of Energy.
He noted that after the conclusion of the negotiations, the optimal option for gasification of the northern and eastern regions will be chosen, taking into account the economic and technical aspects.
In March 2023, the government of Kazakhstan and PJSC Gazprom signed a protocol on cooperation in the gas industry for 2023-2024. As part of the agreements, the issue of gasification in the north and east of Kazakhstan was also discussed. As reported by the Republic's Ministry of Energy, supplies of Russian gas to Kazakhstan will be carried out under mutually beneficial conditions and will take into account the existing friendly relations between the two countries.
