„And obviously BTC and ETH, like other valuable cryptocurrencies, will be the basis of the reserve. I love Bitcoin and Ethereum too!", wrote US President Donald Trump on Truth Social.
The strategic reserve will also include the cryptocurrencies Cardano (ADA), Solana (SOL), Ripple (XRP). „The US cryptocurrency reserve will elevate this critical industry after years of corruption attacks by the Biden administration“, said the US president.
„I will make the US the crypto capital of the world. We will make America great again!", he said.
Even before winning the US presidential election in November 2024, Trump promised to turn the US into a “crypto power“ and create a strategic reserve of Bitcoin, the funds from which could even be used to pay off the US national debt. Trump created the first position in the country's history to oversee policy in the field of artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies and declared his desire to make America a world leader in these areas.
Trump's victory triggered an explosive growth in the cryptocurrency market: in the two weeks after the election, the value of Bitcoin increased by almost 50%. However, by the end of February, the value of BTC fell below $90,000 amid declining investor optimism.
