US authorities have granted permission to the US company Chevron to carry out operations in Venezuela with the oil and gas company Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) until April 3. This is stated in a statement by the US Treasury Department.
“All work normally performed and necessary to terminate operations previously authorized under Venezuela's General License No. 41 and related to the operation and management by Chevron Corporation or its subsidiaries of Chevron joint ventures in Venezuela, including Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) or any entity in which PDVSA directly or indirectly owns 50% or more, is authorized until 00:01 April 3, 2025, Eastern Daylight Time“, the document said.
On February 26, US President Donald Trump announced the decision to revoke, effective March 1, the exemption from the sanctions regime that allowed US oil companies to operate in Venezuela.
