US tariffs on EU food products will hurt Italian agricultural exports by billions of dollars. Sales of Parma ham and Prosecco wine will also suffer, writes the ag. Reuters.

“Italian food will suffer billions of dollars in damage, which will harm not only our country but also the wallets of Americans who buy our products, recognizing their quality and uniqueness“, the agency quoted the president of the Italian Farmers' Confederation (CIA) Cristiano Fini as saying.“US President Donald Trump's farmers will never be able to produce Grana Padano cheese, Parma ham, Pecorino Romano cheese, Prosecco, Brunello and all the products made in Italy“, he added.“

Earlier, Trump announced that the decision to introduce tariffs on EU goods had already been made and would soon be announced, reaching 25% and affecting not only cars but “everything else“. At the same time, he expressed the opinion that the EU was created to use the US for its own interests.

During his first term, he also imposed trade tariffs on European goods.
