The leader of GERB-SDS Boyko Borisov can form a government with the first mandate, the question is how. A political figure who is not so clearly partisan and does not lead to tension with other political formations should be prime minister. This was stated by the political scientist Svetlin Tachev in “The Live Day” on NOVA NEWS. According to him, the character that is being sought is something like Tomislav Donchev. “He would be much more recognizable and acceptable to PP-DB. I am giving it as an example because it seems to me that it has been kept in reserve for a long time to be used for exactly this kind of thing”, the political scientist specified.
„There have been no ideologies in Bulgaria for a long time. The series of early elections rather ideologizes the parties, as it does not allow them to present anything new to their voters. As if the vote has long lost its meaning as a battle between political ideas. The pre-election campaign was very sluggish, this is already the seventh time in a row, it is normal that they have nothing to present, he pointed out.
„The central theme of the campaign became the bought and controlled vote. It seems to me that this is one of the reasons, apart from other factors, for more voters in this election compared to the previous ones”, noted the political scientist.
According to Tachev, the practice of buying and selling votes cannot be stopped. “It is a process, it can be limited and it is the work of the state authority. There is one big problem when there is doubt. This reflects on democratic practices, trust in democracy and in elections. This is the dangerous thing," he added.
„After the fall of “Majesty” it is easier to form a cabinet, even a tripartite one. The question is with which parties. GERB-SDS and “We continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria” these are the two leading formations where it seems possible they can do something together. Then comes the question with whom. “Alliance for Rights and Freedoms“ and “The Movement for Rights and Freedoms - A New Beginning” it seems to me that they are impossible purely in terms of image. They are not an acceptable partner”, he said.
Tachev noted that “Revival“ are also not a possible partner. “They themselves will not want to participate in such management. Purely ideologically, they are in different positions in international relations. MECH and Radostin Vassilev have already stated that they would not participate in such a government beyond the anti-Peevski and anti-Boris government”, the political scientist announced.
According to the logic of the political scientist, “There is such a people” remain. “They also stated in the previous National Assembly that they were ready for a more technocratic cabinet. If they also participate, the coalition will have more than 121 deputies, with which the three formations will be able to govern. The question is, can they somehow find the basis on which to hold on?“, pointed out Tachev.
