Kiselova: Some of the groups in the National Assembly will rethink their behavior by the convergence report - 1

“I think that by June 4, a large part of the parliamentary groups will rethink their behavior and realize that there are more important tasks than dissolving the National Assembly“, said the Speaker of the Parliament Natalia Kiselova in the studio of “Ofansiva“ on the occasion of the upcoming publication of the convergence report on the adoption of the euro in Bulgaria.

According to her, since the beginning of the 51st National Assembly, there have been attempts to dissolve it and hold new elections. As of Friday afternoon, no official motion for a vote of no confidence had been filed.

„Unfortunately, a large part of the procedures are being used to delay the work of the parliament. On the one hand, we hear criticism that nothing is being done, and on the other - dissatisfaction that not enough opposition initiatives are being allowed“, she pointed out.

Assessment of the first 100 days

„The government managed to take several important, albeit small, steps – first of all, the budget was adopted, and in addition, bills were submitted and a contract for the acquisition of 35 new trains was concluded“, Kiselova said.

According to her, the government's main goal is to maintain a good image before external partners – a task that it successfully copes with.

Kiselova also commented on the tension between the institutions, emphasizing that the constitutional model allows for opposition between the president and the government, and this is not unexpected.

“The president has always been in opposition to the regular government“, she stated.

Political support for the Recovery Plan

Regarding the APS's exit from supporting the cabinet, Kiselova noted that “Democracy, Rights and Freedoms” - MRF have distanced themselves, but have left open the possibility of supporting specific policies. According to her, they have not turned into a firm opposition.

“The rulers can also expect principled support on important topics from the other parliamentary groups. The problems that are raised in parliament are people's problems“, she summarized.
