" Assoc. Natalia Kiselova is the most prepared candidate possible in this situation. The BSP can at least be accused of some behind the scenes, of imposing a candidate who will serve someone's interests".
This is what Ivan Ivanov of the BSP said to the BNR.
According to him, Boyko Borisov showed good sense with the decision of GERB to support the candidacy of Assoc. Kiselova for Speaker of the National Assembly.
"For the third week now, we are appealing to the political forces to have a statesmanlike behavior in this situation, to put their personal biases aside and think about how not to break the state.
In his words, the BSP candidate is prepared and can lead the National Assembly in the direction of its activities.
"On the part of ITN, there were not even any conversations. This application was imposed extremely ultimatum, without any arguments. This raises a lot of doubts regarding what is being aimed at and what is behind this candidacy," commented Ivanov in an interview for the program "Nedelya 150". And added:
"One thing should be clear – what is the aim of the election of Mr. Silvi Kirilov – the election of an acting prime minister, who is not known where and to whom he will report and what priorities he will have, and do we want this National Assembly to work, to deal with Budget 2025, do we want the anti-corruption commission to be changed in this National Assembly, do we want the election of the chief prosecutor to be stopped, or are we sliding down an inclined plane, which is not clear in which direction it will end".
The MP from the BSP stated that they will initiate a new round of talks on Tuesday with the aim of seeking support.
As for PP-DB's demands for a sanitary cordon around Delyan Peevski, Ivanov emphasized that it was imposed a long time ago by the BSP. "We are extremely consistent," he was emphatic. According to him, the goal is to unblock the work of the National Assembly.
"This sanitary cordon can have two dimensions. One is documentary – the way they want it. This categorically contradicts the Constitution, a number of laws in the country, because in such a way this thing is vulnerable", expressed Ivan Ivanov's opinion. According to him, everything is a matter of talks. And again he called for reason and finding the most optimal solution.
The deputy pointed out that the responsibility for creating a government rests with the first two political forces. If they want to be responsible to their voters, they should sit down to talk, he believes.
As of today, the BSP has no decision to support a possible government, and there are no arguments in this direction, declared Ivanov and emphasized that at the moment there is not even an official proposal for such a thing.
"These are suggestions that continue to lead the work of the parliament and the state to a dead end.
He denied that there was a breakaway of BSP structures and that thousands left. "We are talking about a very small number of people," the MP from the BSP pointed out.
