The Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC) imposed a property sanction in the amount of BGN 25,640. (one percent of the company's net income) of a company for an infringement committed in violation of a bona fide commercial practice. The notice of the decision of the CPC is published on the website of the Commission.
It has been established that the company imports filling and emptying mechanisms for toilet cisterns of Turkish origin and distributes the same on the territory of Bulgaria from the beginning of May 2024.
The products are packaged and labeled, with no indication of country of origin, manufacturer or importer or quality compliance, BTA reports.
At the same time, the vision of the packaging and its textual content - such as the placement of a map of Bulgaria with the colors of the national flag and a dot indicating Gorna Oryahovitsa, purposefully create an image of the Bulgarian origin and Bulgarian producer of the products, the CPC states.
As a result of the use of process packaging, consumers, as well as traders, can be misled about the actual origin and manufacturer of the products, adds the CPC.
