The ninth attempt to elect a president failed today, and the 51st parliament has been unable to start work for almost a month now.
The candidates for the post this time were four – Atanas Atanasov from PP-DB, Petar Petrov from “Vazrazhdane“, Natalia Kiselova from “BSP– United Left“ and Silvi Kirilov from “There is such a people”.
The PP-DB decision to propose Atanasov was made days ago. Their first candidate was Andrei Tsekov.
„Our move is the result of many compromises that we have made over the last 10 days or more. From day one, we act responsibly. We took a step back, several times we proposed solutions”, announced Kristina Petkova.
In her words, the big problem is that the leader of GERB, Boyko Borisov, does not want to sever relations with the leader of the “DPS– A New Beginning“ Delyan Peevski.
Petkova announced that in the next attempt to elect the Speaker of the National Assembly, her political formation will once again propose Atanas Atanasov.
According to her, the only way out of the stalemate is for all formations in the parliament to withdraw their candidates and unite around the oldest MP – Silvi Kirilov.
