Cases of acute respiratory diseases (ARI) and flu in the Pernik region have increased, announced the director of the Regional Health Inspectorate (RHI) in Pernik, Dr. Alexander Zlatanov.
In the last week, the incidence has reached 261 per 10,000 people, compared to 143 per 10,000 the previous week. The most infected are in the age group from five to 15 years. The flu epidemic is expected to be declared within days, and tomorrow a meeting of the Regional Operational Headquarters for Combating Influenza and ARI will be held in the building of the RHI in Pernik.
Zlatanov commented that students from the region will most likely go on vacation from Thursday, but the final decision on whether they will continue to study online is yet to be made after coordination between the Regional Department of Education and the relevant ministry.
The Director of the RHI-Pernik explained that he will propose anti-epidemic measures, including disinfection, wearing masks, ventilation, absentee education of children, as well as a daily filter in kindergartens. Scheduled in-person consultations, preventive examinations, mandatory immunizations, re-immunizations and visits will also be suspended. Another measure that Zlatanov intends to recommend is that absences should not be recorded for children who have not visited kindergarten or nursery at the discretion of the parents. Because of this, they will not be asked for an apology note or document from a doctor.
The RHI will propose that the non-attendance training continue until the end of next week.
Dr. Zlatanov also said that there is no need to limit the planned admission of patients, including planned surgeries, as long as there is a good filter.
