Mirchev on "Vazrazhdane" and GERB: The situation is classic - Nastradin Hodzha is lying, Hitar Petar is cheating - 1

Today, once again, we witnessed how the fifth wheel in the coalition - – – "Vazrazhdane" - freed up the entire parliamentary terrain to spread outright lies regarding the eurozone. And what's worse, after "Vazrazhdane" the leader of GERB came out and confirmed these lies. This was told to journalists in parliament by the MP from "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" Ivaylo Mirchev, Novini.bg reported.

The situation is classic – Nastradin Hodzha is lying, Hitar Petar is cheating. GERB cannot or rather does not want to propose a budget with a 3% deficit so that Bulgaria can enter the eurozone, said Mirchev.

However, we expect this to happen, we will exert all possible pressure. We expect the Finance Minister to present the roadmap for entering the eurozone - something we have already requested, but there is no movement on it. The Finance Minister is on his way, emphasized the MP from "Continuing the Change - Democratic Bulgaria".

One week GERB told us about a 9% deficit and after a week it turned out that it was not a 9% deficit, but 9% for restaurateurs - handing out new privileges, handing out new gifts, pointed out the MP from the coalition Martin Dimitrov.

This is not how you make a stable budget, this is not how you solve the problems of public finances. From what they have said so far, we expect GERB, Peevski's "New Beginning" and "Vazrazhdane" to support this privilege for restaurateurs, which is the opposite of the necessary measures to stabilize the budget. These people are taking us away from the eurozone. It is absolutely unacceptable to talk about budget holes and the next day give a 400 million leva privilege, Dimitrov added.

We want a roadmap for a 3% budget deficit, for stable public finances and for entering the eurozone, which Temenuzhka Petkova should come and present to the budget committee, he explained.

In response to a question whether the coalition will support Delyan Peevski's proposal to establish a parliamentary commission to investigate the activities of Soros foundations in Bulgaria, the co-chair of the PG of "Continuing the Change – Democratic Bulgaria" Bozhidar Bozhanov commented: "We haven't read the reasons for this commission yet, but it seems quite strange and untenable. Soros is like some kind of ghost that wanders here, and most likely has never set foot in the country".

Regarding the budget and the budget deficit - my colleagues from GERB are not trying to achieve a 3% deficit at all, on the contrary - they are proposing measures to reduce revenues, which means increasing the deficit. We are proposing very specific measures and we believe that the government can comply with at least some of them if they want to show a real desire to achieve 3%. These are distinguishing in the Ministry of Interior the police officers who are on the streets and protect us from those who work behind a desk; gradual release of pensioners; auctions for medicines in private hospitals; optimization of the administration. All these measures are absolutely reasonable, achievable, not radical and we believe that if the government has the will to achieve a 3% deficit, the government should implement them. Unfortunately, we do not see a request for a 3% deficit, which is in practice a retreat from the eurozone, Bozanov also said.
