„Vazrazhdane“ has submitted to parliament a Bill amending and supplementing the Law on the State Seal and the National Flag of the Republic of Bulgaria, the party's press center announced.
The people's representatives from „Vazrazhdane“ are proposing additions that would guarantee the independent raising of the national flag of the Republic of Bulgaria in all public buildings, during official celebrations and festivities, in front of and in our diplomatic missions, as well as in units of the Bulgarian army and on ships of the Bulgarian navy.
„The Law on the State Seal and the National Flag of the Republic of Bulgaria was promulgated in 1998. and does not provide for a ban on raising and placing next to it flags and symbols of intergovernmental organizations of which the country is a member.
On the other hand, in all state and municipal buildings, halls and others, the flags of two intergovernmental organizations of which Bulgaria is a member are placed - the European Union and NATO. The Bulgarian state flag has been degraded to an equivalent and equivalent status to non-governmental organizations,” it is stated in the motives for the bill.
With it, “Vazrazhdane” proposes that the flags of the EU and NATO not be placed on a par with the Bulgarian flag, the party's statement also states.
