The Mayor of the Sofia Municipality Vasil Terziev returns for new consideration the decision of the Sofia Municipal Council of January 16, 2025 to stop traffic on night lines N3 and N4 and reduce that on lines N1 and N2. In a report to the Chairman of the Municipal Council, the mayor insists on reviewing the decision on night transport in the city.
"I consider the decision to be inappropriate and the report to be unfounded", stated the Sofia Mayor Terziev in his reasons. He points out that night public transport and its effective functioning provide a fast, safe and accessible way of moving for the city's residents and guests.
According to Terziev, the arguments that night public transport generates losses for the economy of Sofia cannot be shared. The serious reduction and practical closure of night lines on weekdays will in all likelihood significantly reduce revenues in the city's economy.
"The data show that night public transport lines are used intensively by citizens, and the service has been consistently and noticeably growing throughout 2024. At the same time, it cannot be claimed that the difficulties in the functioning of day lines are related to the functioning of night lines," the mayor points out.
