Own production would provide the cheapest natural gas for Bulgaria. This was stated by the Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov at a meeting with representatives of "OMV Petrom" - a subsidiary of the Austrian OMV.
The prospects for oil and gas search in "Block 1-21 "Khan Asparuh", located in the exclusive economic zone of Bulgaria in the Black Sea, were discussed. Minister Stankov emphasized that the development of a local field would guarantee the energy security of the country and the region, as well as contribute to increasing the competitiveness of Bulgarian domestic and industrial consumers.
During the meeting, Rob Dobbins, Head of International Relations and Assets of “OMV Petrom“, presented the main stages in the implementation of exploration activities in the block.
The conversation focused on the great potential of the block in the Black Sea and expressed confidence in achieving good results. Minister Zhecho Stankov was categorical that local production would ensure diversification of sources of energy resources, guaranteeing national energy independence.
