To facilitate traffic during peak hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, when many people are on the road, the movement of trucks over 12 tons will be stopped in the area of the "Topli Dol" and "Praveshki Hanove" tunnels on the "Hemus" motorway (AM). This was announced by the press center of the "Road Infrastructure" Agency (API).
Only passenger cars and light trucks will pass in both directions along the section, and heavy trucks will be redirected along bypass routes.
On Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. heavy trucks traveling in the direction of Varna will be redirected via the “Vitinska Reka“ junction, on roads I-1 and II-17 and will continue on the highway at the “Botevgrad“ junction. After that, truck traffic will pass at the “Pravets“ junction on road I-3, and the return to the highway will be at the “Osikovska Lakavitsa“ junction.
On Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. heavy trucks over 12 tons traveling to Sofia will be redirected via the bypass route from the “Osikovska Lakavitsa“ junction on road I-3 and the return to the highway at the “Pravets“ junction. After which their passage will be diverted from the “Botevgrad“ junction and will continue along the highway at the “Vitinska Reka“ junction.
If necessary, depending on the intensity of traffic and at the discretion of the bodies of the Regional Directorate of the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs (SDVR), other restrictions may be introduced to ensure safe passage through the section of the “Hemus“ motorway.
Over the past weekend, the movement of heavy goods vehicles over 12 tons was also stopped in the section of the “Hemus“ motorway. And then the trucks were redirected along the same route.
