More than 30 million leva additional funds are needed this year for psychiatric hospitals. This was stated by the Minister of Health Silvi Kirilov during the parliamentary control in response to a question about the insufficient financing of psychiatric care in the country, BTA reports.
Kirilov indicated that in 2024 the Ministry of Health carried out monitoring in state psychiatric hospitals and prepared estimates for increased subsidies for diagnostics and inpatient treatment of patients. According to the estimates, additional funds of 30 million are needed. BGN, of which five million BGN are needed for salaries, over one million - for electricity, fuel and hygiene materials, over two million BGN for care for 373 permanently resident patients in the 12 state psychiatric hospitals, etc., he also indicated.
When preparing the budget forecast for 2025-2027, the Ministry of Health stated to the Ministry of Finance the need to provide this resource, but the medical institutions insist on increasing funds to 130 BGN instead of the current 65 BGN per bed-day for inpatient wards with round-the-clock stay in hospitals of the third level of competence, added Minister Kirilov. According to him, over 54 million BGN are needed for this purpose, and together with the increase in funds for state psychiatric hospitals, the amount increases to over 64 million.
