With a report submitted to the Sofia Municipal Council, the municipal councilors from "Spasi Sofia" and the district mayor of the "Studentski" District propose the creation of a new bus line No. 97, which would provide a convenient connection between the "Malinova Dolina" district and the "G. M. Dimitrov" municipal district.
The new bus line 97 will be a real relief for the residents of Malinova Dolina. Four new stops will be opened in the district, which will ensure better accessibility to public transport. In addition, the line will reduce waiting times on "Simeonovsko Shose" and Blvd. "G. M. Dimitrov", and will operate in sync with bus line 67. Both lines will run every 15 minutes, without increasing the workload of drivers.
Andrei Zografski, Deputy Chairman of the Transport Commission of the Sofia Municipal Council, commented: “This is a long-awaited change for the residents of Malinova Dolina. The new line will not only improve the transport connection of the neighborhood, but will also reduce the load on the main arteries in the city. This is an example of a balance between efficiency and sustainability.“
“The people of the neighborhood felt forgotten for many years, but we hear them and are working not only to provide public transport, but also to solve the other deficits of the neighborhood” added Boris Bonev, leader of "Save Sofia".
One of the key features of the new line is its synchronization with bus 67. This will allow passengers to travel faster and more comfortably, without increasing the number of buses on the route. Each of the two buses will run every 15 minutes, which will reduce waiting times and improve service.
Despite the positive effects, the implementation of the project requires support from all political groups in the Sofia Municipal Council. Andrey Zografski called for unity: "This is an opportunity to show that public transport is a priority for all of us. I expect support from colleagues to make this initiative a reality.“
